This is a new age, a new time, a new era. One in which the world's population is connected- unlike any other period of time in our history. With only a click of a button we can see what's going on in other countries spanning the globe. The troubles they live, the poverty, the wars, the happiness they achieve, the ideas worth spreading, the hope that sits like a seed in every human heart- waiting to grow.
It's interesting, isn't it? That this connection through wireless communication was born now, right now, in a time when we need it most. Almost synchronistic. Well, we have a chance to use our powers, our connections, for the good of our global community. A community and Earth, that needs it most.
As a manufacturer of paddle boards, the Evolve team is incredibly aware of our footprint left on the Earth's surface. We use materials, especially trees, for the production of our lifestyle products. And we are aware that with every board produced, a tree is sacrificed.
Which is why we have decided to partner with Stand for Trees. Through every Roots SUP Yoga board purchased, we will donate a portion of the sales to this non-profit organization designed and created to protecting our home's most important necessity- the trees.
How does it work? Well as it says on their website:
What if we all stood up for trees and saved a tonne? The term 'tonne' represents a metric ton – a unit of measurement equal to approximately 2,205 pounds or 1,000 kilograms. That's a lot of CO2 that would otherwise be released into air, contributing to the man-made greenhouse gases that are accumulating and accelerating climate change in our lifetimes.
The fact is, when we stand together and purchase these unique carbon credits (or should we say 'community credits'), we shift the economics so that the trees are worth more alive than dead. And we help communities protect their forests for the long-term benefit for the many versus the short-term depletion by the few.
The funding these communities receive helps local residents pursue sustainable livelihoods that don't rely on the destructive practice of clearing their greatest resource. Communities get stronger. Vital habitats – many of them home to endangered species – are safeguarded. And fresh air is generated for all living things on the planet. Not a small thing.
Indeed, this is not a small thing. We are aware that companies and businesses need to start to understand our impact on the globe, how we can help alleviate it, and create products that not only serve our customers but the community at large- the Earth and its population.
And we invite anyone else to do the same. Whatever actions can be taken, will only serve to do good. And that's something to stand behind.
